Setouchi Triennale 2025

The Setouchi Triennale is a contemporary art festival held every three years across the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Since the first edition, NDC’s Hara Design Institute has created the main visual identity for this celebrated event.

For the sixth iteration, we set our stage at a seaside swimming area. Dozens of middle and high school students, wearing red swimming caps and black swimsuits, gather on a diving platform before plunging into the sea in unison, their faces eventually emerging from the water’s surface. We envisioned a photograph that captures the moment when art — the extraordinary — emerges within the familiar landscape of the Seto Inland Sea.

This poetic visual announces the return of this maritime celebration while inspiring a longing to return to that very place.
